Ingredients

1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups (285g) all-purpose flour

1/2 cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup (170g) chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans; optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined.

Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Shape the Cookies: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie to allow for spreading.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges appear set while the centers are still soft. Do not overbake, as the cookies will continue to firm up as they cool.

Cool Down: Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy: Serve warm or at room temperature, and savor the chewy, chocolaty goodness!
