Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon orange zest (about 1 medium orange)

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed for best flavor)

1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

1 cup white chocolate chips

1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cream the Butters and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together using a hand mixer or stand mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Wet Ingredients: Add the egg, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat until well combined.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the white chocolate chips and almond extract if using, until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked, which is perfect for a chewy texture.

Cool: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Dust with Powdered Sugar: Once cooled, dust the cookies with powdered sugar for a lovely finish.

Serve & Enjoy: Enjoy your delightful creamsicle orange cookies with a glass of milk or a refreshing iced beverage!
