12 mozzarella cheese sticks

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 tablespoon water

2 cups seasoned breadcrumbs (Italian-style preferred)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Olive oil or cooking spray (for baking)

Prepare the Cheese: Freeze the mozzarella sticks for about 1-2 hours until they are firm. This will help keep them from melting too quickly during cooking.

    Setup Breading Station: In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour in the first, the beaten eggs mixed with water in the second, and the breadcrumbs combined with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in the third.

      Bread the Mozzarella Sticks:

        - Remove the cheese sticks from the freezer.

          - Dredge each cheese stick in flour, ensuring it’s evenly coated, then dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.

            - Finally, coat the stick in the seasoned breadcrumbs. For an extra crispy texture, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps to double coat the cheese sticks.

              Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. If you prefer frying, heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C).

                Bake or Fry:

                  - For Baking: Arrange the breaded mozzarella sticks on the prepared baking sheet and lightly spray them with olive oil/cooking spray. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through the baking time.

                    - For Frying: Carefully place the cheese sticks into the hot oil, cooking for about 1-2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

                      Serve: Allow mozzarella sticks to cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Pair with warm marinara sauce for dipping. Enjoy your delicious, crunchy mozzarella sticks!
