Ingredients

15 fresh jalapeño peppers (or your preferred peppers)

1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust according to heat preference)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 package of wonton wrappers

Olive oil, for brushing

Optional: Fresh herbs (like cilantro or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the peppers: Carefully slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise, removing the seeds and membranes (use gloves to avoid irritation).

Make the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.

Fill the peppers: Spoon the cheese and bacon mixture generously into each jalapeño half, making sure they are adequately filled.

Wrap the peppers: Cut wonton wrappers into squares and wrap each filled jalapeño half with a square, making sure to pinch the corners to seal in the filling. Optionally, brush the wrappers lightly with olive oil for extra crispiness.

Bake the firecrackers: Place the wrapped jalapeños on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the wonton wrappers are golden brown and crispy.

Cool and serve: Allow the firecrackers to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce!
