Ingredients

16 oz (450g) baby bella or white mushrooms, cleaned

4 tbsp unsalted butter

5 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

1 tsp dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tbsp olive oil (optional for extra flavor)

Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Mushrooms: Start by cleaning the mushrooms with a damp paper towel to remove any dirt. Trim the stems if they are too long.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. If you like, add a tablespoon of olive oil to enhance the flavor and prevent the butter from burning.

Sauté the Garlic: Once the butter is melted and starts to bubble, add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned, as browned garlic can become bitter.

Cook the Mushrooms: Add the mushrooms to the skillet and toss them gently to coat with the garlic butter. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are browned and tender.

Season: Sprinkle the mushrooms with salt, pepper, and dried thyme. Toss to combine.

Add Parmesan: Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms. Stir gently to ensure even coverage and let it melt for about 1-2 minutes.

Finish and Serve: Remove from heat and stir in the fresh parsley for a burst of freshness. Transfer to a serving plate and serve warm, garnished with extra Parmesan if desired. Add lemon wedges on the side for a zesty touch!
