Ingredients

1 lb chicken tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

Vegetable oil for frying

1/3 cup honey

1 tbsp hot sauce (like Frank's or Sriracha)

Optional: fresh herbs for garnish (like parsley or cilantro)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a medium bowl, combine the chicken tenders and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or up to overnight) to tenderize and flavor the chicken.

Prepare the Breading: In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test it by dropping in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle and brown quickly.

Bread the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge each tender in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated. Shake off any excess flour.

Fry the Chicken: Carefully place the breaded chicken tenders in the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C). Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Make the Hot Honey: In a small saucepan, combine honey and hot sauce. Heat over low flame until just warm, stirring to combine. Remove from heat.

Serve: Drizzle the hot honey over the chicken tenders or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
