Ingredients

1 package (8 oz) of cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 large egg (separated, yolk and white in different bowls)

1 package (1 lb) King's Hawaiian sweet bread, sliced

1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut

1/4 cup crushed pineapple, drained

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg wash (1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water)

Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and the yolk of the egg. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Stir in the shredded coconut, crushed pineapple, ground cinnamon, and salt until fully incorporated.

Take your slices of King's Hawaiian bread and flatten them slightly using a rolling pin. This will serve as a base for your Danish.

Cut each slice into a rectangle (approximately 4x6 inches) and place 1-2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each rectangle.

Fold the sides of the rectangle over the filling, pinching the dough to seal it. You can also make a braid with the sides if desired for a decorative touch.

Brush the outside of each Danish with the egg wash to achieve a golden sheen when baked.

Place the assembled Danish on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
