Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef (preferably lean)

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tbsp brown sugar

2 tbsp sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, minced

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

2 green onions, chopped (whites and greens separated)

2 cups cooked white rice (or brown rice)

1 cup broccoli florets (steamed)

1 small carrot, julienned

1/4 cup kimchi (optional)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix well to create the marinade.

In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and cook, stirring frequently until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.

While the beef is cooking, drain excess fat if necessary, then pour the marinade over the cooked beef. Stir to coat the beef evenly and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

In another pan, briefly sauté the broccoli florets and julienned carrot in a little sesame oil (optional) until just tender, about 3-4 minutes.

To assemble the bowls, start with a bed of cooked rice, add a generous scoop of the beef mixture, followed by sautéed vegetables.

Top with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and kimchi (if using) for added flavor and a crunchy texture.

Serve immediately and enjoy your delectable Korean beef bowl!
