Ingredients

4 fish fillets (tilapia, cod, or your choice)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Juice of 2 fresh lemons

Zest of 1 lemon

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon slices (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Fish: Pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel, and season both sides with salt and pepper. Set aside.

Make the Lemon Butter Sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, add minced garlic, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Add Lemon: Stir in the lemon juice and zest along with the fresh thyme. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes to blend the flavors. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Cook the Fish: In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned fish fillets to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fillets are golden brown and cooked through (the fish should flake easily with a fork).

Combine and Serve: Once the fish is cooked, pour the lemon butter sauce over the fillets in the skillet. Let it cook for 1 additional minute to heat through. Carefully transfer the fillets to a serving plate.

Garnish: Drizzle any remaining lemon butter sauce over the fillets, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley and lemon slices.

Serve: Enjoy your lemon butter fish fillet with steamed vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad!
