1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced into strips

1 large onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

2 tablespoons black peppercorns, crushed

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Salt to taste

Green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well to coat the meat evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes for maximum flavor.

    Prepare the Vegetables: While the steak is marinating, prepare the bell pepper, onion, garlic, and ginger.

      Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the marinated steak. Stir-fry for about 3–4 minutes, or until the steak is browned and cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.

        Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion, and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.

          Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and crushed black peppercorns to the vegetables. Stir-fry for another minute until fragrant.

            Combine It All: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir in the oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and salt to taste. Toss everything together and cook for an additional 2 minutes to ensure that the sauce is well distributed and everything is heated through.

              Garnish and Serve: Transfer the sizzling pepper steak and vegetables to a platter. Garnish with green onions if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
