Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 cup pecans, chopped (plus extra for topping)

1/2 cup maple syrup (optional, for drizzle)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with non-stick spray or butter.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Whisk together until well combined.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk until smooth and creamy.

Combine Ingredients: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps remaining. Fold in the chopped pecans gently.

Pour and Spread: Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan. If desired, sprinkle more chopped pecans on top for an added crunch.

Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Drizzle: Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. If desired, drizzle with maple syrup before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.

Serve: Slice the Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread and enjoy it warm or at room temperature. This bread is perfect for breakfast, as a snack, or for dessert.
